Solar Landscape, 22 Van Veghten Drive (initial hearing)
App. #25-024-ZB, Solar Landscape LLC, Block 303 Lot 8.04, 22 Van Veghten Drive: preliminary and final major site plan and a D(1) use variance for rooftop community solar panels, with ground and roof-mounted equipment, on the existing buildings. The minutes attach the transcript.
- Attorney Donna Jennings said the site has existing non-conforming lot area and setbacks that the project would not worsen, and noted that the applicant had come before the Board about a year and a half earlier for a similar project.
- The site engineer said the system has 921 modules and would produce about 572,000 kilowatt-hours a year, enough for about 69 homes; the panels would lie flat, adding about five inches of height, within the zone’s 45-foot limit. Board members asked about fire access, decommissioning and what happens if the company goes out of business.
- No members of the public asked questions.
- Approved with conditions, 7-0 (motion Kulak, second Amin; ayes Kulak, Weideli, Amin, Fresco, Franco, Gayeski and Henderson-Rose; Wiseman, Colucci, Mignella and Vescio ineligible).
