What happens next

The Committee's next regular meeting is posted on the Township AgendaCenter, where residents can ask the Engineer for the Mountainview Phase II schedule, the scope of King George Road Phase 4 and the Sept. 30 overlay completion report.

Warren pays for road work through two programs. Longer through-roads are paved using New Jersey Department of Transportation Municipal Aid grants. Local streets are milled and repaved under an annual overlay contract.

King George Road and Mountainview Road. On December 11, 2025, the Committee approved plans for King George Road Phase II, from Berkshire Drive to Washington Valley Road. It also approved plans for Mountainview Road Phase I, from 15 Mountainview Road to Round Top Road. These approvals were in Resolution 2025-290 and Resolution 2025-291. The Committee awarded both contracts to Stilo of South Plainfield. The cost for King George was $221,889.98, which was the lowest of nine bids. The cost for Mountainview Phase I was $357,660.05, which was the lowest of ten bids. These awards were in Resolution 2025-298 and Resolution 2025-300. The vote was 4–0. Committeeman Blick was absent. Each contract required approval from the New Jersey Department of Transportation before work could begin.

On April 16, 2026, Committeeman Croson stated that work would start on April 20 on King George Road. Work would then move to Mountainview Road Phase I. On June 18, the Committee awarded Mountainview Road Phase II to Riverview Paving. The contract was for not more than $509,422.55, which was the lowest of 11 bids. This award was in Resolution 2026-155, with a 5–0 vote. The minutes describe Phase II as going from Round Top Road to Mount Horeb. The resolutions from November 2025 and August 2026 describe the grant project as going from Round Top Road to Mount Bethel Road. No map was reviewed.

Change orders. On July 16 Res. 2026-203 added $79,690.15 (23 percent) to Mountainview Phase I for asphalt and fuel adjustments and traffic officers, raising it to $437,350.20. On Aug. 20 Res. 2026-224 added $29,512.69 (13.3 percent) to King George for the same adjustments and an inlet repair, raising it to $251,402.67.

Valley View Road. The Engineer reported a $252,952.00 NJDOT grant for milling, overlay and drainage on Dec. 11, 2025. Ordinance 26-05, appropriating $445,000 with $420,000 in bonds, was introduced 5–0 on Feb. 19, 2026 and adopted 4–0 on March 12, Croson absent. The bond ordinance text includes the $252,952 grant in its $445,000 appropriation.

The overlay. On May 14, 2026, Resolution 2026-152 awarded Carroccia Co. Contractors the 2026 overlay contract. The amount was not more than $945,800. This amount was based on 10,000 tons at $94.50 per ton and 80,000 square yards of milling at $0.01 per square yard. This work covered 24 named streets. The resolution required a report on completed roads by September 30. On June 18, a resolution authorized $100,000 for micro surfacing. On August 20, Croson stated the program was almost complete.

Not reviewed. LocalWhy has not reviewed minutes for the September 24 and October 22, 2026 meetings. The October 22 agenda lists an overlay change order. It also lists a two-month extension for the King George Road Phase 4 grant. The amounts for these items are unknown.
